This is a review of the Kindle version. You can become a good public speaker if you practice, but don't believe the marketing hype about this book. It's probably apparent that I've been travelling again a lot lately as the number of posts related to books has gone up. It's an story-filled ramble through the life of someone who talks for a living. There are two things I'm pretty damn sure of: 1) Most people are afraid of public speaking. At FOSDEM, I was given a copy of “Confessions of a Public Speaker” by Scott Berkun (thanks, Josette!). 2) I fall into the category of “most people”. The few times I do speak, though, I'ld like it to be as good as possible. He also provides tips on how to prevent and rectify several commonly repeated mistakes in public speaking. Scott Berkun lists various techniques to deliver presentations the right way. Those are words from the author, verbatim (p. That's right, I have a confession to make: I'm afraid of public speaking! Although I love the thrill of speaking in public, I unfortunately don't get to do it as often as I used to (once, maybe twice a year lately).
